Parametric Research Institute
Instructor: Roland Wahlroos-Ritter
This design incorporated VBS-based rhinoscripting as a parametric tool to articulate the design of a multidisciplinary "Bach Research Institute" in Downtown Los Angeles. Based on the way Bach wove together "voices" in his fugues, the agent script I developed grew based on attraction thresholds to other agents and to attractor points. The site acted as a set of forces acting on the growth of the agents, influencing their path. These agents were then adapted into a structural set of tubes with aluminum casing. Site relationships emerged and created a feedback loop, informing the genesis and location of the spaces. Iterations of this project were published on the architecture blog, SuckerPunchDaily.com.
